Media Rooms

A media room isn’t quite as dedicated as a “Home Theater” this can also be a family room, keeping room, great room, etc. It usually consists of a large flat panel TV and a small surround system such as 5 in-ceiling speakers or a soundbar paired with a nice discrete subwoofer for the low-end. Performance is important here, but reliability and ease of use are paramount.

This is a room often dedicated to sports and movies. Some will be set up for video games and even more casual TV watching too. A truly dedicated room usually has stadium styled seating or rows of seats in someway. A projector and screen used to be the standard to be BIG enough, but TVs now reach into the 100 inch range. Speakers and amplifiers for these rooms get bigger and better too. They may be a little less discrete, but the performance is worth it. Super bowl partys, birthday partys, and random rainy weeknights will never be the same.

Whatever we call it wiring is often over-looked by clients when it comes to budgeting an AV project. Our world has become so wireless that people forget how integral wire actually is to optimum performance of Audio Video Systems. Oddly enough it’s even important to good Wi-Fi systems. We’re professional wire guys and while we prefer to wire a home in the building phase we know that’s not always possible. We have decades of retrofitting wire into existing homes and doing so without damage requires that kind of experience.
